Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) after surgery: the recovery tech our patients love

One question international patients ask us again and again: does anything actually speed up recovery after plastic surgery in Korea? One answer our patients consistently rate highly is hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or HBOT — a recovery option available at several CYL partner clinics in Seoul.

What is HBOT and how does a session work?

HBOT is a session inside a pressurized chamber with an elevated oxygen concentration. Sessions are typically 30–60 minutes; you simply lie down and rest while the chamber does the work. Many patients describe feeling noticeably more comfortable with swelling and fatigue in the days that follow — which is why clinics offer it as part of post-operative care programs.

Who arranges it, and when?

You don't organize anything yourself. If HBOT fits your procedure and the clinic's recovery protocol, your CYL manager schedules sessions around your check-ups and rest time. It's one item in a broader aftercare plan — alongside deswelling care, dressing checks, and daily monitoring.

The bigger point: recovery support you can't get alone

HBOT is one example of a larger truth about recovering in Korea: the infrastructure around your surgery matters as much as the surgery itself. Recovering in Seoul with a licensed agency means that infrastructure is already built around you.

Ask CYL on WhatsApp whether HBOT is offered for your procedure — a manager in your language will answer within hours.
